A new innovative programme – “Iema?” has been launched by Abu Dhabi Education Council to popularise Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) amongst students enrolled in Grades 3 to 7 across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This innovative programme that aims at igniting minds was launched on Aril 16, will be concluding on May 17, 2017.
The initiative offers fun-loving, interactive programs pertaining to STEM, which is in compliance with the current school curriculum. The programme, includes, “The Prepare for Take off Show”, a unique concept that allows students to explore the basics of Abu Dhabi’s aviation sector.
In this unique workshop, the students will be allowed to actively participate in launching hot-air balloon. Right from getting to fire a jet-engine piston and investigating the aviation fuels, the workshop promises a lot more for the participating students.
The program being hosted with the support of Mubadala Investment Company, also has a Radio Studio Workshop; a Body Builders Show; two LEGO Mindstorms programing and robotics workshops designed for the students. Using a mobile planetarium, “Iema?” will also host a Secrets of Space Show that promises to help students explore the vast expanse of the universe.
“lema?” is one of ADEC’s innovation programs, which supports the Council’s educational reform agenda. Ms. Fatima Al Marzouqi, Vice President of Education and Training, Aerospace & Engineering Services at Mubadala, said: “This show, through tailored, hands-on approach, the program that has been developed for students to build their skills in a unique environment. This programme aims at sparking the interest for science in students and also offers an in-depth insight into UAE aviation sector.”
Launched in 2012, “lema?” till date has been able to reach out to 150,000 students in private and public schools and through its innovative science-themed events across Abu Dhabi. It has got raving review and feedback from both parents and students.
